What is a Blessing Box?
A “Blessing Box" is filled with food and other small items available to any and all who are in need. The concept is simple. The box is a miniature food pantry. You can take items from the box if you are in need, or you can make a donation of food or small personal items.
Often traditional food pantries do a good job, but require people to have referrals from social service agencies or church organizations. People in need often must prove eligibility such as providing proof of residency, or if they have children and how many.
Our Blessing boxes require no paperwork; there's not a lock on our box, it's open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Sometimes, people need food and/or personal items right away and just can’t wait to travel to local food pantries. The ladies of Oasis will maintain the box at first and replace food and personal items. Prayerfully our community and neighborhood will become really supportive and add items to our Blessing Box.
The Women of Oasis will never know how many people our blessing box will help. We are simply trusting that God will send people who are truly in need.
The Bible says in Matthew 25:35 - "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me."
It is our prayer that they will take what they need and leave what they can, and above all that they will be Blessed!
